Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just was wondering what would everyone be interested in seeing for a language book for younger children, like k-1? I am still writing a language book for younger kids that would come before PLL. I wanted some suggestions from all of you as to what you would like to see in something of this nature. I hope to have it done by Fall 2010 but we shall see since we will be moving back to the states then! So please share your thoughts and ideas with me!
God bless,
Cheryl

Oooooh! This is an undeveloped market.

My husband and I desperately tried to find the perfect book for our little before traveling to Italy last spring. We found a couple that had a few Italian words interwoven within a story, which was neat...but the stories were a bit "twaddlish"...and in our opinion, they could have thrown in about a dozen more easy words/phrases...but I do like the idea of incorporating language into a story...so that it is "REAL" and not textbookish.

Our dd LOVED learning basic Italian. She ate it up...and she had just turned 4...so I really do think this is an area that is untapped.

Keep up the good work! The concept sounds great!

I'm glad to hear you are still working on this Cheryl!
I think picture study is really important (which goes without saying, really), verbalizing compare and contrast (size, quantity, color, other visual qualities), narration, days of the week, months of the year, things about nature.

Hope it's going well !!
God bless
Margot

Definitely things about nature. Engaging young children with nature is so, so rewarding. You can use birds for color identification (this works even with toddlers), for example. Natural examples for shapes would be lovely, too.
