Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ever seen your 14yo write Cience for Science...he has come a long way in his spelling (through much copywork and dictation) but we need something to fill in the cracks.

I also have a dyslexic child who seems to be excellent at memorizing spelling lists (phonics doesn't work here). So I need to find a good set of lists for her.

I was thinking of Spelling Power (as a friend told me how to use it so I could skip the huge TM in the beginning).

Any opinions??

In this discussion I was recommended Spell of Words which was written for dyslexic older children. Perhaps it may be of help?

We use and love Spelling Power. There is a DVD (cheap) that teaches you how to use it to teach. It can get you up and running fast.

Would I be able to have more details of this product please? Sounds intriguing.

I just love Sequential Spelling. Our almost 14 year old has always struggled with spelling. Phonograms have never worked for him. In the past, if I gave him the phonogram "ea" then every EE sound would be written with the "ea" like happea, feal, etc. You get the picture?

He has a great memory so I love Sequential Spelling because in breaks down the words by giving the root. so I always start with remember the root? And then the program adds suffixes and prefixes. We also couple this with dictation. I love this program so much that I moved our 10 year to it even though she is an excellent speller!
Hope this helps...
