Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Could someone please share how you do "Studied Dictation"? I have my kids do copy work everyday, but we don't do so well with dictation. Am I to use the same passage from their copy work for dictation? Are they to study the passage first by noting punctuation, spelling etc? Is that all? I'd like to incorporate more of this now that we are in the habit of copy work. I'm just not sure how.
Thanks!
Becky

Becky,
We have started putting more of an effort in here lately. What we do is a copywork piece one day, the next day we use the same piece as our dictation. I give them a moment to study the punctuation and spelling. When I dictate I still remind the boys (10 and 8) of punctuation. Dd12 doesn't need reminding.

Studied dictation is really paying off for us. For the first time dd is paying attention to her spelling, I can see improvement with all the children. We had done copywork for years but it just wasn't enough. Dictation makes a difference.
