Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Claudia,

I am not really familiar with IEW, but I do own and use Bravewriter and love it. Bravewriter is unlike any writing program I have seen. It teaches the teacher how to help the child write, BUT it does not have a step by step do this on day 1 type thing. IF you go to Julie's website, you can view a lot of her book (and ideas) online. It really gives you a feel for how the program works. It has a very unschooly feel to it which I like.

It is very similar in that it teaches you how to teach your child how to write. I think it is more time intensive and bravewriter is like you said alot more relaxed. For what grades do you reccomend bravewritet to start with. And doe it also have a guideline of how to do it?

I have IEW and it make a big difference in my ds writing. This year I will start my 3rd grader with it. I love the cd. I sit and watch the segment with them. Then I let them work on their writing. Very helpful is the IEW yahoo group.
I know several people that have started IEW and they all agree that the program gives power to the student and helps the teacher tremendously.

Thanks Simona I was wondering about the cd's and just how the whole process takes place. I also have a soon to be 3rd grader, what exactly are you purchasing? I don't really know what to look into, it is confusing because I am not sure if the cd's are for me to learn how to teach them or if they have to watch the cd's also. A good friend of mine also uses iew and loves it, she also has told me that her son has excelled in state testing for writing. I just have not had the chance to really ask her about it though.
