Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have any expereince in the "new" version of Voyages in English put out by Loyola University Press? Someone gave me a copy from 1995 that is a TM. It actually looks pretty good, especially in comparison to that awful (IMHO) older version. The older version has caused a lot of hair pulling on everyone's part here, although I have a few friends who swear by it.

Anyway, the newer version has color pictures, updated language and situations. In fact, if anyone HAS that older student book, I would be interested in purchasing it if the price was right. It is Teachers Edition 5 and the inside date says 1995. (I would need the Student Edition) There are African masks etc. on the front cover. Anyway, if anyone knows if this is a good book or not, that would be helpful. I think it looks nice, but I feel a bit overwhelmed with curriculum choices this year, so maybe other's thoughts would be helpful.

I used it with my son in 2nd and 3rd. They are definately better than the older version: bigger font, colorful pictures and over all mor child friendly.

I really liked the writing part, where the child has to learn how to write compositions.

I thought the grammar, even if better than the older verision, was still giving too much information to a young child and there wasn't enough repetition.
But I think that it all depends on how a child assimils grammar.
If you like Voyajes you would be pleased with the new version, but I have exeperience only with the lower grades.
