Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am in need of a traditional, workbook based spelling program. Any suggestions?
I've seen:
BJU Spelling (but that whole company is anti-Catholic, correct?)
Horizons Spelling and Vocab
Abeka Spelling (again with the anti-Catholicism?)
Seton Spelling

Any others?

Thanks!
Jennifer

I love the Apples Daily Spelling Drills for Secondary Students by Susan Kemmerer. You can see inside this book at Christian Book Distributors.

There is a green book and a red book. I love these books because they are painless wiith constant review.   A page a day with NO TESTS! Although you can test if you want to:)

I really love CHC's Catholic Spellers. The Seton ones were not to our liking, VERY dry. I can't recommend the others for various reasons, mostly anti-catholic sentiments.

The only other I can recommend isn't a workbook style. Natural Speller is very affordable and pretty good too.

Cathy Duff has a whole section on spelling curriculum in her book and on her website. She includes information on religious affiliation (or lack of), grade level, prep time, and instruction time. The website is:

I was wondering about spelling too. Can anyone tell me about Spelling Power? Is this the program that takes similiar words and groups them together so that students can see the patterns in spelling etc. or am I remembering incorrectly? Then, I was wondering if anyone had one to sell inexpensively? (IF this is the program I am thinking of. )
