Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I read *somewhere* about the vocabulary level in books being a lot higher than in everyday language and therefore that books were great for developing vocabulary.

I can not for the life of me remember where I read this (maybe Trelease?????) and would like to quote it in something I am doing.

Can anyone help???

I remember reading something similar also. I think Trelease is a good guess, but I'm not positive.

I find that my son's conversational vocabulary is far beyond most of the "modern" things that he reads, but is enriched when we read things that were published long ago, like C.S. Lewis and other classics.

Thankyou for your replies,

I'll get the book from the library again and scan it!
