Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

At what age/grade do you start teaching your kids how to type/keyboard and what do you use?

We are using Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing software. My 12 year old used it for awhile a few years ago, but never got really proficient. Now my 10 year old 5th grader has started using it and my 12 year old is motivated to finish the course so she can focus on her writing at the computer and not on her typing. With this software, I don't do anything. They learn independently.

I watched my 10yo the other day and commented how great it is to have this sort of thing to learn typing. You get immediate results for accuracy and speed. And it's just way more interesting than sitting at a typewriter with a book propped up beside you, as I learned back in the old days.

We recently got Typing Instructor Deluxe from Rainbow Resources(maybe?) to start with my 8yo. I'm pleased with the program so far.
You set goals (wpm and accuracy) and advance to the next level when those are met.

We are using Typing Instructor Deluxe as well...and love it. My kids start using the program at about age 8.
