I found this set at Our Father's House. They look awfully tempting (except the bird one ... we can do that on our own). I'm not very versed in these areas of magnetism, light, and microscopic discoveries. And I like the *everything you need is included* idea. Deos anyone have an opinion about these sets? Are they worth buying? What did you like or dislike about them?

I love them and think they are well worth purchasing, especially if your students are K through 5th or 6th grade.

Just tonight, my 9 year old was talking about the bug kit and all she remembers from it--we probably completed that kit five years ago, so it is interesting how much she was able to retain from such a young age. I think the hands on approach works well.

I have them all and they are well worth it. What I like is that when they say it comes with everythign you need, it actually does. I think the only thing I ever needed that didn't come in the box was water and a slice of bread. The kids loved them too.

The only thing I didn't like was the pocket microscope. I guess it's good for what it is, but that wasn't saying much. We had difficulty working it. That probably wouldn't be as big an issue now they are a little older. Gt more than 1 if you have several children. Mine got tired of waiting their turn.

ETA: Years later we still do the bird watching in fascination. We enjoyed the astronomy so much we bought a telescope, and the microscope explorations was still great enough to make us long for a real microscope even today. I just never seem to have the $ to get one.
