Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I found these two books by naturalist Joseph Cornell. Sharing Nature with Children and Sharing Nature with Children 2 that are just great for nature study. Both books have tons of games and activities to help kids (and adults ) live, learn and love nature.

The second book explains his "learning with a natural flow" which is very CM-ish:
  1. Awaken Enthusiasm
  2. Focus Attention
  3. Direct Experience
  4. Share Inspiration

ENJOY!

Cornell's books are outdoor education's "bibles." They are the most common texts in OE courses, too.

I really enjoy Journey to the Heart of Nature. Very inspiring, with great activities like this Sunset Watch.

Oooh, I just found his new Trail of Beauty today. Neat idea and may be a great way to get copywork off the table and into nature!

He's also got one about John Muir called, obviously John Muir: My Life with Nature which is a great middle-grades biography about John Muir.

And, Macbeth -- where are good college programs about OE? It's very early yet, but my almost 7 yod would probably love such a course of study.

Wow, I recently checked out Sharing Nature with Children from the public library, but haven't really looked at it yet. Thanks for motivating me to look at it. I'll have to look for the second book, too. It sounds like it will be really helpful.
