Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, last year we hit a homerun with our Rain Forest Unit Study/Lap Book project-complete with wall murals and biome posters, meals at Brazilian restaurants and the like. Now my kids are all wanting to do SPACE. Yikes. Talk about a broad topic and a tough act to follow! I have a couple of unit study books and some ideas, but I think I need some inspiration... Any suggestions from you creative people??? My dc range in age from 4 to 17.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Quick ideas:

Chart the moon phases
Draw the solar system on your driveway
make plaster of Paris craters (northerners might modify this with ice frozen over water in a kiddie pool--very impressive, like Europa!)
Make a pin-hole sun
projector
Watch the sun rise/set--check your newspaper daily for times.
Big project--make a bedroom ceiling into an observatory with glow in the dark paint.
Visit a planetarium.
Make film-canister constellations.
Measure the sky with your hand.
Make your own telescope.

More ideas and books on my Astronomy page.
I need to update the Astro page, as it is missing some favorite books, like If You Decide to go to the Moon. Have fun!
