This may be old news but for anyone interested in trees I found a lovely picture book at the library called My Favorite Tree by Diane Iverson. It's actually half story, half field guide. The story is quite simple, just individuals talking about their favorite tree and why. The pictures are nice. The field guide part has information about each tree's size, leaf shape, flowers, seeds, it's habitat (including a map), some interesting facts, and my kid's favorite part - it's wild companions. For each tree in the book, at least one bird, insect or animal is listed that uses it for food, shelter, etc. Anyway, just wanted to let you know!
