Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've posted some cool pics on my blog that we took of some dragonflies we found this morning.

Any good book recommendations to accompany?

Maria,

We really enjoyed A Dragon in the Sky: The Story of a Green Darner Dragon Fly by Laurence Pringle. It is as close to a living book about an insect as you can get as he tells the life story of a male green darner fly with great biological accuracy and beautiful illustrations. He did a similar book about monarch butterflies.    Great pictures on your blog too!

YIC,

Marjorie

We just went to a dragonfly festival and they had a gorgeous book on display called A Dazzle of Dragonflies. It was a little expensive ($40) so we didn't buy it there. I am hoping to get it later from Amazon ($27) since they don't have a copy at our library.

It is a really beautiful book.

Blessings,
Krisann

Oh, Cris, that book looks amazing. Thanks. And tell us about the Dragonfly festival - it sounds great, like my kind of homeschooling.

Another book that I have recommended here often (for bees and butterflies) is Dragonfly Beetle Butterfly Bee by Maryjo Koch. It is an absolutely lovely book - great for nature study and aspiring artists. Too bad it's OOP - I hope to find a used copy somewhere for less than what I've seen on Amazon.

Oh and BTW, your photos are lovely, Maria.

Also, try Dragonfiles through Binoculars as a field guide to the many species of dragonflies.
