Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I found this website with MANY recordings of bird sounds. Alot of fun to listen to.

Thanks, Theresa.

Very cool.

Ok, this is so cool because my eldest is off to lie down for sleep and she said as we were listening to the call of the Great Horned Owl,

"Oh, leave it on. It's so relaxing."

How cool! Thank you! Our yard borders on woods and there are many birds around all the time. Learning to identify them by sound has been one of our goals, but I didn't know which of several CDs to get. Now we can listen and learn for free!!

Peace,
Nancy

Thank you, Theresa. There is something very cool about identifying bird calls. I'm no pro by any stretch! Yet I enjoy simple identifications...like the two cactus wrens who were yacking at each other outside my window a few days ago. From knowing their usual call, I could identify them AND identify that they were calling in a more complex way...I think one was REALLY telling the other off...they sounded like an old grumpy married couple    .

Love,

I, too, love bird calls! Have you ever noticed variations in the calls dependent on location? For instance, the Night Jars here in the Keys have a similar enough call for identification but are different enough to catch your attention from the Night Jars in Kansas/Missouri.

P.S. This would be referring to the Common Nighthawk on the above cool website.
