Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was wondering if anyone out there had a suggestion for a 'plant' book for a 2nd grader to read for 'nature read aloud'? Kind of in the vein of the Burgess bird and animal books.

I like books by children's author Gail Gibbons on plants and nature. She writes about a variety of themes, from specific plants such as apples, berries or pumpkins to insects like monarch butterflies and animals like sharks. You can find many of her books at the local library. If you want to own a copy, they usually come in both hard cover and the less expensive paper-back.
