After reading the posts on homeschooling for free and on a budget, I'd like some help in creating a science course for my rising 7th grader. She would like to do science independently. Are there online resources that would allow her to learn about cells (theory, division, organization, etc.), basic needs of organisms, classification of organisms, photosynthesis, ecosystems, transmission of genetic information (DNA, etc.), and whatever else falls under the title "Life Sciences"? Or do any of you have suggestions for a good book for this topic? I'd be willing to purchase a text if it would be interesting enough to capture dd's attention, could be used independently, and isn't too expensive.

Science is my biggest weakness. Any help you can give would be much appreciated!
