Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'll admit that I've never been an outdoorsy person so I never invested in clothing for being outdoors. I don't even have a casual winter coat or snow boots. Now that I'm not working, I want to integrate nature walks into our lives and know that I probably need to invest in some proper shoes and clothing. During the winter (we live in cold northern city), I live in my Ruskovilla wool/silk long underwear so at least I do one thing right to prepare for being in the cold.

I don't want to deprive my daughter of an outdoor experience because I don't want to get wet or dirty, KWIM?

What do you wear when you go on nature walks? Any advice for coats or shoes?

Columbia Bug-a-Ice boots Worth every penny. They're tight where the base of the laces hits your foot.. I had to go up half a size.. but they're comfortable.. my feet stay warm.. they're good for hiking.. and they're cute

Love Columbia brand too.. rarely had any problems with their products and then they have a "limited lifetime Warranty" that's getting pretty rare.. I've had a child's coat zipper replaced when the base of the zipper broke, the jacket had been used 3 or 4 winters and all I paid was shipping to them. The warranty covered the work and return shipping.

I constantly wear hats. I am ALWAYS cold. Hats and gloves and warm socks are essential here. Oh and when the wind even slightly starts to pick up you will find me in a scarf.
I hibernate a lot but need to get out too so the boys know what is going on out there.

You'll find a systems parka will give you the most flexibility.. that's the one with the fleece liner and the goretex type outer.. they zip together to make a good winter coat but they seperate out into a fleece jacket and a rain/wind jacket.

water proof gloves warm lined gloves.. if your hands or feet get cold you won't enjoy being outside.

I also like one of the headband earwarmers.. they don't make you as hot as a hat (with earflaps) but having something to protect my ears from the wind when it's not that cold is a really good thing.

Oh I had one of those "system Parkas" mine was actually a coat that zipped but came apart like that. I LOVED it. I wore it until it dropped!
I suffer Raynaud's syndrome, a good pair of gloves is essential! Agreed!
