Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oobleck, Slime and Dancing Spaghetti
By Jennifer Williams

I spotted this book at the library- the title intrigued me. And when I opened it saw that the dancing spaghetti experiment was inspired by Strega Nona...
well, I must say that my heart began to beat faster.

This book is all about science experiments paired with children's books:
Rechenka's Eggs, The Butter Battle Book, Ice Cream Larry, How to Make and Apple Pie and See the World, Everybody Bakes Bread, Bartholomew and the Oobleck... so many great ones.

We are planning to try out a few- some of the books I have not read so I will have to preview them first, and some of the experiments are old friends, like making butter and oobleck. But what a great idea! There are extension activities, also, plus good scientific explanations of what is going on.

The age range is listed as 4-11 years.

Our library did a homeschool program with this book. They did the Dr. Seuss Oobleck book and the experiment to make the oobleck. The kids really enjoyed it, but I was in the outer library with the younger two kids (a friend stays in with our kids).

Enjoy!
