Hi ladies,
I was looking through the archives but couldn't find what I am looking for. We got my 8 year old the snap circuit 100 set for Christmas and I am looking for some good books to get him to help him further the rabbit trail. I am planning to order Tillie Pine's Electricity and How we Use it, but I thought I'd check if you all have any other suggestions. He's 8 but reads at at least a 6th grade level, probably higher. I do notice that though he likes to read nonfiction, he's not as interested in technical direction type writing. Does that make sense? LIke directions on a math page, or not thoroughly reading the circuit directions if he starts without my husband. But he'll read every detail of a Boy's Life Magazine, or Exploratopia, etc. Thanks!!

What about the Boy Scouts' Electricity Merit Badge Booklet?
Also, MeritBadge.org has a list of electricity-related online articles at the bottom of their Electricity Merit Badge requirements wiki.

We love our snap circuit sets!!!! We have gotten one for Christmas the last two years. My dh and I were just discussing that the hours that we spend in our Electrical Engineering Labs would have been much easier with the "snap" sets. What we had to use ended up looking like a rats nest with all of the wires connecting everything! The snaps are really brilliant. (Actually, the snap set AND a TA that could speak english would have been helpful! )
I am interested in this as well, my old kids have really enjoyed building with this set. Without looking, I am wondering out loud if Unborn has a good book on this? I will need to carve out some time for this.
On a side note, the flow of electricity is very similar in concept to the flow of water. That might be a interesting rabbit trial.

Thanks! We are only in our second year of scouting and he's still a cub and I'm still working my mind around the badges/patches/ what's required/what's elective :)
It's hard to tell whether its for boy scouts (age 11 and up?) or all levels. I'll show it to my husband, though.

These are some authors/series I really like and they do have electricity volumes.

Merit Badges are for Boy Scouts (11+) BUT that doesn't mean that YOU can't use it as an independant resource for your son.

Thanks, Ladies. I ordered the book I mentioned, and am going to look through the merit badge and then see if we need more material.
