Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi there!
My dc have been outside enjoying spring all week long We have researched butterflys, caught lizards, and just played in the dirt.
I currently have my 3yrold ds freaked out he was playing in and around the trench the plumbers dug (for sewer hook up ) and thanks to the cut pine roots he got sap in his hair. So the part thats got him upset is that I described pine sap as the trees "blood" and now he really wants it out . We normally use crisco to get sap off our skin but I'm at a loss on how to remove it from hair... I could cut it out I guess
Hmmmm... did I mention that ds likes to twirl his hair to fall asleep
Thanks
Al
ummm this does count a nature study right?

oh poor thing.

i googled and found this:

I have several pine trees and get pine gum on cars, hands, and hair. I use rubbing alcohol to dissolve the gum then wash as usual.

The best method I've found for pine sap removal is crisco or butter. I've never tried it on a car, but can personally say that rubbing crisco on the sap in my hair removed it immediately. I've also used butter on the kids feet to remove sap while camping. It's fast, but most important it won't remove skin or paint.

here's the thread:   pine sap removal

and of course this qualifies as nature study!

I am jealous of your spring-like weather.....our ten day forescast is permanently set for snow or rain

tea tree oil gets it out everytime............skin or hair,,,,,though if it is bad in hair.........I sometimes just cut it

I learned this from Marion Moreland.........known on The Little Way...and, a CCM mom........just giving credit where it is due

off to iron!

Isn't this the same idea as trying to get gum out? We always used peanut butter, but anything oily works in a pinch.

Thanks ladies for the help. I'm going to give the crisco a try first as the tea tree oil has a very strong smell

Chari, our weather has been wonderful, but we are in a drought. I am very concerned about the lack of rain fall. If it keeps up we will need a "good" hurricane to stall out on us and dump enough water fill our reservoirs and aquifers... You guy get too much rain, we don't get enough
