Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a couple of binoculars I can recommend to you.

Tasco 10 x 25 - we've always enjoyed the durability of Tasco binoculars. These are 10 x 25 and the thin eyepieces allow for little hands to hold them and manipulate them with ease. I like that the eyepieces come completely together to adjust for very close eyes (usually found on very little people). Not all binoculars have eyepieces that come that close. They're also small and compact - they pack away easily. They have a nice "rubbery" feel to the body which makes them feel secure in your hands. We have 2 of these binoculars.

Carson Hawk makes a nice set of kids binoculars. They're not expensive, and do work reasonably well, but they aren't very durable either so you have supervise their use. The lenses pop out with banging/normal kid type wear.

I WISH I could link you to a pair of binoculars we have had for YEARS!!! They are all plastic - plastic body, plastic lens - I'm talkin' CHEAP!!! But they have lasted at least 7 years and are so PERFECT for my littlest hands!!! They're sturdy and work well enough to not be frustrating. I bought them as part of a set of Discovering Birds science kit I bought years ago that we enjoyed. (If you scroll down on that page, you can see the red binoculars pictured in the group of "here's everything included with this kit.) You can purchase individual replacement parts from them, but as I looked at the description of the replacement binoculars, they aren't the same as my old ones. I've searched and searched for these binoculars to no avail. They're pretty non-descript really - red plastic outside, with no identifying markings stamped on them anywhere. I realize that does you no good...refocusing...

I don't have the two binoculars I'm about to list, but I trust the Lee Valley products so much (I've been shopping with them for years and their products are chosen because of their quality and function.) that I wanted to add these two for consideration.
Full Size Binoculars
One Hand Focus Monocular - these have been on my wishlist for some time!! Sometimes, it's hard for little ones (and even big ones) to get their eyes lined up in the binoculars so that they see one clear image. My son has been asking for a nice monocular for some time, and this is the one we'll probably get him.

The Binocular Site has a helpful article on choosing binoculars for kids.

We have several pairs of binoculars from full size Bushnells on down....the one pair I highly recommend as a basic binocular -- sturdy, easy to handle and operate, lightweight is the Tasco.

Hope this helps!

I've looked at these for the past couple of years....Acorn Naturalist.

They also link this document to explain the numbers used in magnification and field of view:
