Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My garden is plowed and I am Sooooo ready to start planning and planting but I cannot for the life of me find all my gardening books! Yikes! They must still be packed from our move last summer and that means digging through the attic. Ugh! In the meantime, can you ladies point me to the best online site where I can look up (for my zone) planting guidelines, soil nutrient requirements, variety recommendations, etc? (Oh, btw I am completely organic, too)
I am a desperate woman...

Oooo! You're ready to plant--I'm so jealous! The last of our snow just melted yesterday. I can hardly wait to go play in the mud!

This resource may not help you in North Carolina, but maybe there's a similar website for your area. Several universities have great gardening information that I use for resources. My best resource is from the University of Minnesota's extension program. It has lots of great information about plants, soils, etc specific to my area. We're zone 4, and I've got a yard of heavy clay soil. http://www.extension.umn.edu/index.html

Besides university websites, I also like a site called justgardeners.com That might have information from people around you. Happy spring!

I second the recommendation for extension offices.

My local library has had some surprisingly good gardening books, specific to our climate.
