It has come up in this discussion and I am wondering if there is enough interest in doing the Journey North project together here on 4 Real as a group. Each member/family who wants to join in would be responsible for calculating and reporting the data for one of the 10 locations. We would track it here like we did several years ago when we did it as a 4 Real group effort.

After reading over the earlier thread, I guess I'm game! I had planned to do this anyway, but I wouldn't want to goof it up for anyone...so I was hesitant to say, "Yes, I want to be part of a group!" Reading others comments, it looks like I might be able to handle it...so I'm in!

I can explain a little more later, but wanted to clarify as it seems a little daunting that it goes so long. It really ends in late April - the big reveal happens a few weeks later in May that is why they say May 13 - but there is not work those last two weeks. For several weeks there is just one calculation to do and report. It only takes 10 minutes or so per week. In mid March with the equinox there is another calculation to determine longitude. They have a very thorough tutorial to guide you through. Then the culture clues start and those take a little sleuthing, but it is very manageable. We'll guide all the newbies along. I'm so glad there is interest. And I know doing it as a group where you are only responsible for one "mystery" location is a great way to get your feet wet and keep it manageable.

If we get 10 participants, that is one per location, though I want to wait until we get our first set of sunrise and sunset times to make assignments - just because it's more fun to have a location that isn't a polar region (times don't change for weeks and weeks). There is always one polar region and last year there were 3. So I want to see what we have this year.
EDITED: That makes 10 but I can step out and just coordinate (we are part of a local group, too, so would still be assigned a location). And we can double up having two work on one location.

Dh is doing science projects with the boys and I think he'll like this. So, I hope he'll take it on but if not, I will.

Just added you to the list. That puts us at nine families. If we go over ten we can double up some locations. But would be perfect number with just one more participant.
