Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The BBC has a children's TV series called Bamzooki in which kids design "Zooks" (computer generated robotic insects) to perform various tasks. We downloaded a Zook building kit from the Bamzooki web site, and Rachel (11yo) has been having a lot of fun with it over the last few days. It is quite an engineering challenge, and it took her a while to master designing functional legs (most of her prototypes bounced on the spot, though one managed to travel backwards ).     She has also discovered you need to design different Zooks for different tasks. A block pushing Zook needs a different specification to a hurdling Zook for example.

Have fun!

Kathryn,

I saw this on your blog and thought it sounded so cool. Haven't had a chance to download the software but it looks like something my sons would LOVE!
