Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our son will be 4 in a couple of weeks. We're going to get him a nature magazine for his birthday. We're trying to decide between Your Big Back Yard or Zootles. From looking at the sample issues, it seems like YBBY touches on many different subjects at a time, whereas Zootles focuses more deeply on one subject. Is that correct? Does anyone have any rave reviews or warnings about either of these magazines? I especially don't want to get anything that might try to sneak in world overpopulation propaganda.

I haven't seen the Zootles ones, but we get Your Big Backyard and LOVE it. (we have boys 5yo, 3yo and 1 1/2) It is several different topics, but the pictures are great and the reading short so it really holds their interest. My 5yo likes it if we do the activity pages together (usually a maze or find the picture type thing) and we made some really cute pom-pom ladybugs out of one of the issues.

Hey neighbor! We just ordered Your Big Back Yard, but I haven't received the first issue yet. Otherwise, I'd let you borrow it. I'm pretty sure there are copies of it at our library, though.

I've never heard of Zootles. My husband has fond memories of Zoobooks though.
