Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

From my handy-dandy Old Farmer's Almanac newsletter I just learned that tonight will be the Penumbral Eclipse of the full Worm Moon (March 14).

"The eclipse will be under way as the Moon rises tonight. The end of the eclipse will be visible throughout North America, except in Alaska and the extreme western parts of United States and Canada. The Moon will leave the penumbra at 9:13 P.M. (EST). Find out when the Moon rises where you live."

I'm a greenhorn at all this, but I'm seeing it will be hard to detect, but I'm excited to try!

Thanks for pointing this out.
I noticed based on your website that the moon should have already risen at my location, but I can't see it. It figures, as we are in a pretty deep valley surrounded by mountains, everything "rises" later and "sets" earlier for us behind those mountains. I hope we can see it a little, at least. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for this, Jenn! The road we were on at moonrise is perfectly aligned to the rising moon on this date...must have been built by ancient astronauts .

We missed the eclipse, but boy was the full moon pretty this month!

In relation to the thread on maple sugaring, we learned in The Sugaring-Off Party that the the Abenaki Indians (native to Maine, Vermont and sourthern Quebec) called the March moon the Maple Sugar Moon or Sugar Moon ...

That's funny - your sugaring thread got us started on a study too and we requested Maple Moon from our library but it's not in yet. Have you read that one?

No, I haven't, but it looks wonderful! I just requested it from our library loan system ...
