After our little treatment of the Periodic Table, my son also wants to study the planets.
I'm just looking for some fun introductions, like picture books, on the solar system and planets.
What do you do when your son comes to you and says "Next we need to learn about...."?
I did ask him what he wanted when we study something. He wants some experiments and fun reading. We're in summer mode, but I do like to give reading when interest is expressed.

It's probably undr "space" and not "solar system." Don't have time to check right now.

This site is very good Solar system exploration particularly these 'trading' cards Solar system trading cards
As you might guess I tend to do a google search first when my children ask (just for an overview), then I'll use the online search and hold functions for our local library.
For subjects that the children have an abiding interest in, I simply keep an eye out for recommendations, add them to my wish lists and pick them up when I can.

I didn't find one with a lot of books I'd posted as a list or unit. I've probably done in in smaller chunks by topic.

Here's one I recommend all the time here. Love the experiments.

Bumping this - I'm looking for more of a chapter book on Space to use along with Mater Amabilis' Science in Ancient Greece plans for 4th grade.
I want something that is more of a history of knowledge of the solar system.
