Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Paul Fleisher's works were mentioned on another list, and I couldn't find any discussion of his books here.

Paul Fleisher website.

In particular they were praising "Secrets of the Universe" for junior high science.

His Ice Cream Treats and the upcoming Weather books look exciting.

I would love to hear feedback on his works.

Loved Secrets of the Universe- my son absolutely loved it too! We had done lots of nature study and natural history, along with some science units before that year. He did it in 8th- I just got him to read it, narrate some of the chapters, and also to try some of the demonstartions.

I was able to pick up the five volumes of Secrets to the Universe for a very reasonable price. Each volume is small and slim--much easier to work with than a large textbook. I went to Abebooks and tried to find sellers that had more than one of the volumes for a decent price to save on shipping.

He writes each topic by discussing how the person discovered or invented it so you get some historical perspective. His writing is very clear, great for middle school. I have not tried the demonstrations yet (there are a few) so I hope to do so over the summer. I am pairing this series with some other experiment/science activity books for more hands-on stuff.
