Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Last year Macbeth spoke at the Family-Centered Conference hosted by MicheleQ. I can't remember if it was in her talk or when I peppered her with questions that she recommended books by Janice VanCleave, particularly for Math.

I found a few at a used book sale this weekend. These books are no nonsense, simple but not dumbed down hands on ideas. I really like them. I know Jen Mackfarm has recommended them here, too.

Her website and blog is Science Projects for Kids. Great stuff!

Can you share any favorite book or project inspired by her?

I met her at the Waco book sale not knowing who she really was. It was so fun! I don't have any of her stuff but plan on getting some and using them.

You can find a list of her books here from Wiley Publishers. She is definitely prolific!

Any favorite titles?

That is so cool, KC! I do that a lot, meet someone not really knowing much about them, then later after reading about them I become their biggest fan!

LOVE Janice Vancleave! How in the world can someone choose a favorite book...there are just too many. I really am partial to the "_________ For Every Kid" series.

We keep checking out her books from the library. We have a Rocks-Minerals one now. And, I like her Math one for the early years.

I really like her books. Love the layout, the print, the drawings, etc. They are very user-friendly.

Yeah, I can't pick a favorite book or project either! We've been using them for years. Our library has a great selection and we've gotten them at used book sales too.

I'd say we use the ______ for Every Kid books most. When my boys were very young I liked the Play and Find Out books.

Ditto this!!!

We love these books and they're great for activities that assist a particular study! I particularly like the format of the books.

I can't pick a favorite either!
