Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have recently been thinking about mountain lions.....aka cougars aka puma aka at least 38 other names.......

I recently posted on my blog about mountain lions.

And, now, I am curious about who has actually seen a mountain lion.....

It can be your story or someone you know.

I was really excited because I wrote a review of a book in that blog post and the author of the book left a comment. That is so cool.

Thanks!!

Lenten Blessings,

I don't have a mountain lion story but I do have a bobcat story - short and sweet. I was in NE PA walking with my children and another hsing family (Hi, Mary Ann) and we were on high grassy acres between our two rural homes. I was chatting, imagine that, and I noticed a cat at a distance. We walked on and I thought, "That's a big cat." We kept moving and I thought, "Oh my gosh, that is a really big cat." By this time, we pieced it together that it was a bobcat! Thank goodness it stared us down, kept moving, and didn't come forward - yikes! Very unnerving.

Just today, a coyote was on my street...just thought I'd mention it in case someone is collecting coyote stories .

Love,

Okay, here are the stories.

1. Last spring while on the way to my in-laws we drove past one standing in the middle of T------'s field. Their land is about 5 miles south of ours.

2. In October he was in Montana hunting with a group of guys. Over the course of three days they saw 5 lions wandering around - closest was less than 100 yards.

3. Bowhunting for deer this past Autumn he was up a tree and heard something coming. Something big. He knew it wasn't a deer. The mountain lion walked right under him and kept going. He said that was the scariest because it was probably hungry.

He also said that the MN DNR is releasing lions right now, which is why the population in our area is increasing.

And we have plenty of other animal stories...
