Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was not sure where to post this..

I really want my 3 older children to do a First Aid, American Red Cross/CPR class. Can anyone recommend how to find a class? The only one I have found locally is run by Babysitters Inc and I am not too sure about it.

Thanks!

I'm not really sure either.. but you might call the ambulance or fire department or hospital or the American Red Cross might be able to direct to a certified class in your area.

Call the Children's hospital nearest to you. Ours gives those types of classes in a four season rotation.

Marilyn, I moved this to the Science forum as health/safety curriculum topics I figure are good fit with science. I'm also hoping that Kris will see it here and have some ideas for good sources of finding first aid classes.

My daughter learned some first aid as part of the Red Cross Baby Sitter's Class. We just found it on the Red Cross website. If you enter your zip code it will give you a link to your local Red Cross and their should be class listings on that.

You can get certified through American Red Cross, which does both first aid and CPR, or through American Heart Association, which has only CPR. People have already suggested the most likely places to find instructors--public safety officials (fire/police/EMS) and hospitals. If you can get together a group of homeschoolers you may be able to find an instructor that will put a class together just for your group. The CPR certification is good for 2 years.

Blessings,
Kris

Thanks so much everyone. I have been getting information - our local hospital (5 mins away) does classes by Safe Sitter Inc for ages 11-14 which include CPR. I have also emailed the American Red Cross local chapter and the American Heart Association. I would really like my 3 oldest to take classes together if possible.
