Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dh wanted to show me all the fishing spots when he visits his uncle in NY - on Lake Ontatio and the Salmon and Oswego River. We picked this weekend because it was just before dd's orchestra rehearsals begin on Saturday morning.

Unfortunately it also happens to be the "salmon run" up there at this time. So what was an enjoyable campground for dh in June turned out to be a disaster for a family trip in Oct.

I cannot believe this kind of behaviour went on in a state campground - loud very loud to all hours of the night. Major drinking - terrible foul language - it was awful...really awful.

We came late Friday night - so the office was closed - dh didn't have the park police # and didn't think it would be wise confront large groups of of very drunk men. So we made it through the first night - he went to the park office - others had complained also and a patrol would be sent around Saturday night.

We had someone from the group of worst offenders apologize to my dh Saturday afternoon explaining they didn't realize we had children blah...blah...
We were ever so hopeful that that was a good sign.
But Saturday night rolled around and even with seeing park police drive through twice...again there was loud...loud behaviour until at least 2:00am. The only reason things quieted down was I heard one of them say that they ran out of beer.

I could tell that some of the group were *trying* but that only seemed to encourage worse behaviour - some of their friends started *Yelling* KIDS, AW HECK All THEM KIDS SHOULD BE ASLEEP bleep...bleep...bleep.

We love camping and this has been our first bad experience so I really don't want to discourage anyone but I can't recommend camping in upper Owsego County during the salmon run!

Anything like this happen to anyone else...what did you do?

It's happened to us, and after reporting to the office, we've chosen to not go back to those campgrounds. I've found that family owned campgrounds are a much better choice.
