Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Next Sunday is her feast day! (Our parish patroness!)

Can someone tell me if this flower is the same as a snowdrop?

Wow, Dawn! Thank you for resurrecting this--I must have missed it last year.

I do not know about the beautifully named flower, but it givs me an idea for a simple Feast Day craft--paper snowflakes with a holy card or lamb at the center!

Happy Feast!

Love, Alice

I was curious ... it seems they are different but similar I found this summary of a whole series of lectures on snowdrops and snowflakes. Different genera apparently - snowdrops are Galanthus and snowflakes are Leucojum.

Wow, Kathryn, thanks for the link! How interesting ... I am glad to hear how similar they are. I almost think the snowflakes look like lily-of-the-valley somewhat.

Alice, as always, wonderful craft idea!

Gwen,

I think we had these in my yard when I was growing up-under the Aspens-they are beautiful. They tie in well with our snow theme. Thanks for the link!

Happy Feast Day, everyone!

We made a little craft yesterday working around the snowflake theme we've discussed here. Later today we will have some snowflake cookies (pizzelles with powdered sugar!) and tea.

Enjoy your day!
