Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies , I need a bit of help on the topic of patchouli .
I've had this plant for just over a yr now and it is growing awesomely . Yet it is growing straight up in two very thin thin stalks . Is it not to be more bushy ? My plant is at least 2 1/2 ft high and still growing . So is there a way to trim it ? perhaps to help it become more bushy .
   It sure smells good :-)
Thanks for any help , Roxie

I'm not sure if it's any help but our 10yo plant is tall and spindly too. It does seem to bush up a little when I cut it back but I don't do that very often. I've also cut pieces and rooted them but none of them have lasted like the mother plant.

Roxie, I haven't tried to grow patchouli myself, but I found this link for you which basically details the care of patchouli, and it says that it withstands heavy pruning. It doesn't say whether that would give it a more bush-like shape, but you could try it. I wouldn't prune back more than about a quarter of the plant at a time.

Well it took me awhile to get back to this
since I posted we of course had all that snow and frost in May .
My patchouli was left out on one of the nights and lost all the leaves ! I thought I'd done her in
however I let the plant sit in the pot and kept watering it . I was just sitting looking at it a few days back and thinking well maybe I best transplant my lemon verbana to the pot.
patchouli has 3 spots where tiny new leaves are imerging !
So I will for sure need to read up on this .
Thanks so much for the help ! Roxie
