About a month ago we stopped in a souvenir shop that was selling various polished stones. They had some magnetized stones marked as "Hematite" that we bought. Love the rocks!

But in some researching I haven't been able to find confirmation that hematite would be magnetized. Lodestone or Magnetite, yes. Hematite? Yes or no? So I'm thinking it might have been mislabeled?

Anyone have information on this kind of rock?

Synthetic hematite is magnetized. Naturally it is not, or only very slightly with heating. They make synthetic hematite and polish it to look like hematite. It is often labeled as "hematite" though.
