Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What do you use for science? Do you suggest a text that worked for you or do you do your own thing? I am trying to find out where to go...my dd is in third grade and I am not a science smart person. any help would be great.

Darlene,

I do my own thing until about 7th/8th grade (and occasionally even beyond). What do you think your dd should learn? There are so many wonderful resources for that age! Have you looked at MacBeth's website?

In Christ,
Deborah

The Hands On Science kits from Stratton House are absolutely fabulous! I finally discovered them in time for my youngest and I do with I'd had them for my eighteen-year-old. We're just finishing the Light Unit and *I* learned so much.

Love these too!

We do most of our science through reading living books and nature study. I supplement with rabbit trails on varying topics. The friends of the library used book store or any good used book store are great assets for finding these. Get a good experiment book - there are tons out there - and just enjoy nature walks while they're young!

If you're really worried about what you're covering, you can sit down and plan your year, focusing 6 weeks on botany, another 6 on zoology, another 6 on astronomy and so on...but my kids tend to focus on something they're really interested in at the time and we run with it.

I second Macbeth's site - an excellent resource!

Thanks for the link, Jennifer! I was never one for buying "kits" but these are so terrific. The lessons themselves are super and they could not be any easier to do. Having all the materials ready-to-go has enabled us to do science even during those times when you just can't get your act together. They're so fab, I began looking around for other, similar kits for other subjects!
