Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The last two years DD has done lots of Nature Study(which she strongly dislikes) along with CHC's 4th grade science, which was comprised of Anatomy,Nutrition, and First Aid. I supplemented the Nutrition and First Aid, as I am pretty crunchy when it comes to health care and food.

She has been finished with all science for awhile now, and I am trying to decide where to go next. She doesn't like science at all,and I am horrible at it. DH(with three degrees...Physics,Math, and Life Science) would love to do some hands on stuff with her, but doesn't have much extra time.

DD is the type of DC who enjoys choosing what she will study. Now that she is of the age where she has strong opinions(as opposed to her toddler years ), she knows what she wants. She wants something that is fun, interesting, and sticks to one area of science. I want something that is very easy to implement, and has very little prep.

She was recently at a friends house and came home saying she liked what they were doing for science, and it was 4th grade A Beka....until I told her that it involved illustrating birds, etc each week.

If it helps,I am a believer in Creation of an old earth, but not Evolution( a little at odds with DH on that one), though I will teach it as theory until the Church says otherwise.

Oh! DD is in the 5th grade and studying American History with SL.

Many thanks!

Although I'll be kinda making up my own I am going to be using Real Science 4 Kids (http://gravitaspublications.com)Chemistry Level I for my DD(11yo) and Physics Level I for my 2 oldest sons(10yo & 8yo.) They are cheaper to purchase at Amazon.com, but I did purchase the Real Science 4 Kids kit at http://hometrainingtools.com- I just found this website yesterday!

I hope that helps:)

We really enjoy Apologia! We are studying Flying Creatures on the 5th day. This is a type of book your dd could do on her own. Good luck!

BlessedMommy and Anne-Thankyou for replying!

I have been off the computer for awhile, so I missed this!

We have a lot going on right now, so this is what I have come up with for now. I ordered The Complete Book of Science from our local bookstore-it costs $15 and I will get 20% off of that. It is a workbook(I know, I know..but right now, DD has tons of reading, and loves workbooks!) WE will supplement with living books according to the topics, and take our time to dive deeper into the topics...we will start next week, and I plan on finishing next August/September.

Ah well, this will work for now. Next year DH will pick the curriculum since he is the one with the science degrees.

Many Thanks,
Christy
