Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Yikes! After the storm blew through this morning, it left a wake of hundreds of little caterpillars climbing for higher ground in our yard. We would be oh so grateful for any and all help in identifying these little guys.

Thanks in advance! Here is the link to the photos.

I'm no help, Alice. We always get the earthworms after the rains...many dead ones come into our basement. The caterpillars look really neat.

Oh, while we're on the subject of rain abundance, can you kindly PLEASE send that rain up here?

Yes, we have found a few earthworms also. But there are TONS of the caterpillars, and we have never seen them before.

I truly wish I could send you all the rain you could handle. We are so very, very tired of it.

Well, unfortunately it looks a lot like some kind of cutworm or armyworm to me, but I can't be sure. They are pretty common lawn and agricultural pests and can do a lot of damage. They live in the thatch so flooding would definitely bring them out.
Here is a site I often use to id caterpillars or at least get a general idea.
whats that North American caterpillar
It isn't the most complete site, but it has a really easy search function.
