Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

No kidding! The children and I met my dh at a conference he attended this past week at Loew's Ventana Canyon Resort and were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely opportunity for nature study. According to a local report, "Loews has just opened on its property a 1.5-mile educational nature trail, created in conjunction with the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Tucson Botanical Gardens and Friends of Sabino Canyon. The trail winds up the hill to the base of an 80-foot waterfall, with stunning views, and ends at the koi pond outside the lobby." On trail we saw
butterflies to include our favorite monarch, a variety of birds to include a probable yellow warbler (oh, and we pieced together that the groups of "female cardinals" that we see in our yard from time to time have actually been   pyrrhuloxia - cool,) whiptails and toads. Yet, off trail we saw some of our favorite sitings like the white-throated woodrat climbing up the vining outside our balcony, the western spotted skunk walking through the oh so fancy outdoor dining area after midnight, and the desert tarantula hanging out after dark under a path light on the edge of the parking lot.

Love,

That is *so cool,* Angie! I think that my favorites have to be the western spotted skunk and the pyrrhuloxia. I'd never even *heard* of that bird and have no idea how to pronounce it's name. It's coloration pattern is really interesting. Maybe next time you guys get to go up there you could take me along in your suitcase.
