Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

DS (6) is great at clssifying vertebrates - he loves animals. So, what is the best way to go about introducing invertebrates. We are studying animals according to continent so we have covered a few like Krill and I want to make up a classification chart that show invertebrates as well.

I have just printed a set of pictures that classifies vertebrates/invertebrates but he will find this pretty easy. I thought I would make some labels for the invertebrates and then classify them further. Just looking for ideas.

I would go by the major phyla. You could simplify some of the names, such as platyhelminthes, nematoda and annelida could be simply flatworms, roundworms, and segmented worms.
Then lets see, you would have echinoderms, sponges, jellyfish and corals (cnidaria),arthropods, and mollusks.
It would also be useful to break arthropods down a bit into insects, crustaceans, and arachnids.

Anyway, that is what we are doing for dd. Ds at age 12 is going into a bit more detail, but still he started with this basic framework.

Thanks for your help. Vertebrates seemed so manageable to me - only five to cover. I guess we just need to launch into it.
