My ds (11) loves being in the great outdoors. He has a passion for learning all he can about animals, bugs, plants, you name it. It has caused me to stretch in this area, because if I had my way I'd be inside sipping iced tea all summer. But, now that he has influenced me for a while I am right there with him totally in awe of God's creation. The other day we were talking about what he wanted to be when he grows up. I mentioned that I thought he should be a Naturalist as he is very interested and already very knowledgable in this area. But, when he asked me what is a Naturalist I had a hard time answering. Macbeth, or anyone else that knows, could you explain what it means to be a Naturalist for my ds? Thanks!

It sounds as if your son already is a Naturalist, Becky! I would define it as someone with a passion for nature who never loses interest in discovering more about it. From what I have read, most great naturalists started off as enthusiastic children.
