Hi ladies,
Could I please beseech you for prayers for my six year old, John Paul?
Sunday, my dh took the middle four kids to our local Irish Festival. It is located right next to the Natural Science Museum where they had advertisements for the exhibit Body Works. I am sure many of you know of this horrific display but I won't go into detail but suffice it to say that the images that my little one saw have frightened and devastated him. He has been teary, sad and clingy off and on since Sunday. I thought he was better today but he had a bad afternoon and I am sooo mad that this "exhibit" is allowed to advertise in a public place where little ones must be exposed to such horrors.
JP is a very sensitive little guy and all the hugs and love are helping but I am sure your prayers will help him, too. I told him I would ask all my online friends to pray and he said, "Good. I don't like seeing those pictures in my head. I want them to go away."

I'm continuing to pray for John Paul. I'm thinking about writing a letter myself. It makes me so sad for his innocent mind to be fighting such horrible images.

Jennifer, I am so sorry for your little guy! It is absolutely appalling what is allowed in public spaces - the other day a bus drove by with a movie advertisment for something *horrible* - how can we shield our kids from images like these???
Please tell John Paul his friends are praying for him!

We just finally got rid of that *show* here in the Twin Cities. It was here forever. It was CONSTANTLY advertised on TV, local news, the radio, sides of buses, you name it.
I know one couple who went to see it, and left after only a few minutes, it was so disturbing.
Jennifer, I'm praying for him right now!

Praying for you little guy. It is so sad when society allows young minds to be influenced by such disturbing images.

How sad and unfair that advertisers are so irresponsible about placing images in public places where anyone can see them, rather than just those who choose to look. This is too much of a burden for a six year old! Praying that he finds peace and freedom from the effects of these images.
Peace,
Nancy

Thank you everyone for the prayers. John Paul says he feels "pretty good" this morning!
I am working on a letter to the museum and the Irish Fest to let them know how inappropriate those public images were...

Okay, I didn't want to ask so I googled.
Do you mean Bath and Body Works?
I thought I got out more than I do. I don't have a clue what this is and my children don't either. And I have 3 teenagers!
Please don't go into detail, just what is it so I'll have a heads up. I have a 9 yr old dd who would respond exactly the same way.
Hope your little one is doing better, hon.

We take science classes at the museum and had to deal with this issue as well. Here is the link to the Body Worlds Exhibit.
There was also some discussion in our local group about it and I found this Dallas Morning News piece to be very interesting.
I suspect, Cay, you won't be wasting the gas for this field trip!

Thank you, Suz for posting the info. for Cay...I was too scared to go to the actual link...I haven't seen the images myself and surely don't want them in my head, either...
I also want to thank you so very, very much, for your continued prayers for John Paul. He came up to me once this week and mentioned that he was "thinking" about those bodies...I cuddled him for a while and he was off to play outdoors with his sisters...I am praying he is over the worst of it...
As a brief aside, my dh mentioned renting the new Bond film, Casino Royale, tonight (to watch after the kids were asleep), but I don't know. A friend of mine told me that at one point in the movie, Bond runs through a museum showing the Body Worlds exhibit! I wonder how much they paid the Bond people to get their exhibit on the big screen?

Excellent article, Suz.
I know one couple who went to see it but prayed their way through the exhibit for those poor, poor souls and their plasticized bodies.
I'll pray for JP's mind to be filled with lovely images!
