My husband is going out of town for a week. He's done this before, but never have I felt so tired and felt I have to live up to so much. I'm homeschooling five of my children right now. Because we slacked off on American history in the past few years (we were living in Europe at the time), I feel the need to teach American and world history simultaneously. We've completely *started over* with schooling. I've scrapped the plans we had and last week was week one of this school year.
My oldest son is starting to rear that teenage head, trying to get away with disrespect because he's almost my height.
I'm asking for prayers so I will have endurance, and so that I will be tough, consistent, and over all, still loving of my children when I just want to take a nap.

Tina, I know just what you are going through. My husband was doing a lot of traveling the last couple of years, just as my teenage son was at his worst attitude-wise.
If I could offer any advice, I would say just for the time he is gone, lighten up your expectations of yourself. I don't know your kids, but maybe you could just load up on library books relevant to your history studies and let them spend lots of time reading on their own. Order some pizza and watch some movies.
One thing I always remind myself is "this too shall pass". This really helps me live in the moment without dwelling on it.
Prayers this week!
My dh will be gone the next week, so we will see if I can take my own advice.

Hing in there, Tina! I know just what you mean about wanting to take that nap! I only had to be without my dh for one whole DAY last week and thought it was the longest day, ever!

OK. Here's the current situation. On the night my husband was at his work buddy's house playing poker, the door to one of our coat closets broke.  Last night he went to bed at 9:00! Tonight, he's playing poker with his buddies and the garage door broke smack in the middle of its track. Won't move up or down. And our garage door opener is so old that it doesn't have a cord to pull to set things right.
I'm really jealous of his *vacation away from the family time.* Why don't moms ever get that? The  has me in his grip. Keep the prayers coming, ladies. I need them more than I thought I would.

I always go through this when my dh travels, too! Oh, to sit in a hotel room, watching tv and eating bon-bons!!  Just to get a whole bed to myself, the luxury!
Really, it is a little hard when they seem to get the time to relax when they are gone, and life is that much harder for us when they are gone. I try to remember that he would rather be with us. And when all is said and done, I wouldn't switch places with him. (At least, not for more than a day or so! )
Praying tonight! This too shall pass.

I guess I should explain that when I called tonight ~ he TOLD me to call because we had told him about the garage door ~ he tried to shoo me off the phone. He said goodbye at least 5 times (I guess I should've gotten the hint after the second time) because he was too busy playing with his friends like a little boy to talk to his wife. I am so hurt!
