This is a first for me. I read the strike section in my La Leche book and I do think he isn't nursing because he has a cold. He hasn't nursed since this morning, throws his head back, won't latch on at all. 15 hours - I'm going a bit crazy! I haven't pumped since baby #2 and don't own any equipment. I've thought of hand expressing for some relief. He's taken a bit of water. I'm hoping when he wakes here shortly he'll be sleepy enough to latch on. He'll then be in bed with me for the rest of the night.

Prayers would be wonderful and any advice would be appreciated as well.

I'll offer this small suffering for all of the prayer requests I just read and did not reply to and for the mom of 12, I believe, who just lost her husband.

Did you try giving Luke some natural nose drops? in German it is called Kochsalzlösung - some kind of salt water - to clear the nasal passages.

Matthew did the same thing when he had a cold.....plus he was already two.....so I went ahead and weaned him, since he was refusing.......Sarah was due in 6 weeks .......and I wasn't doing that tandom nursing thing again........at least not until the NEXT two kids

remind me to look in my bfing answer book tomorrow if this is still happening......

Erica,

Sometimes mine wouldn't nurse for a day or so when they had a cold/earache. When nighttime came around, they were usually tired and hungry enough to nurse.

Praying you get some much needed relief. Praying for little Luke, too.

Thanks so much for the prayers. Luke did nurse late last night!! And, then throughout the night. Sweet relief...for both of us. I was feeling tired and uncomfortable when I posted and I should have waited until this morning to post a request.
