Update-

Well, he is holding steady. He is very stable and otherwise feeling fine. He is on copious amounts of blood thinner that they are having to inject through the stomach (much like insulin for a diabetic) because they don't want to risk an I.V. He may be out by Friday, but has a long road ahead. As I said, he is not good about caring for himself or understanding the ramifications of not caring for his health so we need lots of patience. The family issues are doing okay. In other words, no problems or blowups. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I know your prayers have helped keep some of the family issues at bay and given my husband the patience he needs to deal with them, especially his mother and sister.

My father-in-law is right now sitting in an ER with a blood clot that extends from his hip to his ankle, withing to be admitted. He has diabetes and emphysema. He takes very poor care of his health and has pretty much loved this past year as if he wants to die. He is unbaptized, having never embraced any kind of relationship with God. My mother-in-law is a practicing devout Catholic, but dealing with some real anxiety and health problems of her own lately. Complicating all this, of course, is some deep dysfunction in my dear husband's family. Lets just say the holidays were very rough. My children, for the most part are oblivious to the problems, though it has become more difficult the older they've gotten. They do love their Grandpa very much. Prayers for his health, but more importantly for charity and understanding in the family would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your responses ladies. It warms my heart.
We now know that he also has several clots in his lungs making the situation a bit more serious for my fil. Many tests tonight with more information tomorrow.
Reading my first post...sheesh, do I know how to type?
Anyhow, after reading it I have been praying and thinking and I think I very humbly need to ask for your prayers for myself. I am actually quite angry with my mil over some of the things that have been going on, and I just need to get over it and be there for her. So please, ask Jesus to have mercy on me...I am a work in progress.
