I'm not sure if it's national news or not.
My heart is heavy for the family that was returning to CA after visiting family in WA for Thanksgiving.
They were lost nine days in the mountains of Oregon when the mother, 7 mo old, and 4yo were rescued.
However, the father left on foot Saturday morning for help and still hasn't been found. Mr. Kim is now discarding his clothing & even a map has been found. It appears he's leaving a trail, but the rescuers cannot find him.
If you feel led, please pray that he is found soon and by the grace of God, he's found alive. Sadly, time is running out since he has resorted to discarding his clothing...temps in that snow covered mountain are said to be 30 degrees at night.

We have been fervently praying for him and following the story since last week and rejoiced when they found the mom and kids. It is so scary as I could imagine being in a situation like this. We continue to pray here that James Kim is found soon.

I've been checking the family site periodically. In the last 10 minutes they posted this:
"12/6/06 - 12:30pm (Pacific) - There are reports that James Kim has been found. We do not have word on his condition but are anxiously awaiting information from the press conferenced which will be held shortly. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts."
I so hope that the tentative report is true and if they have indeed found him I pray he is alive.

Been praying here, too .... I wish he'd hunker down in one place and try to keep warm! I'm sure he's so scared, but the more he moves around, the harder it is to find him. I pray they find him before it is too late, and that God provides spiritual comfort for his wife and children either way.

I just saw the breaking news conference. They have unfortunately found his body. We pray now for the repose of the soul of James Kim and for his poor family.

Oh, no. I hardly ever watch the news and wasn't aware of this.
I've heard it said that you should keep moving in the snow or you'll freeze to death. I know what you're saying though, Philothea. We always tell our children if they get lost in the store to stay in one spot and we'll find them.
Such a sad, sad thing...especially during these holy days.

Praying for Mr. Kim.
There is a good chance he is already a saint as he laid down his life for his family.
"If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father's commandments, and do abide in his love.10 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.11 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.12 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.13" John 15:10-13
Blessings,
Krisann
