Johnathan is going before the Soldier of the Quarter Board for the division on December 7. They decided to skip the "post" board because the whole post is now the same division. If you have a spare moment would you please say a prayer that he won't be nervous and that he will do his best?
He and Nikki will be driving here next weekend, then to Pennsylvania on the 16th, back to Kansas the first week of January, and then here again the weekend of the 15th. Please pray for safe travels for them.
They also have a deployment date, February 10th. They will be south of Baghdad at a refueling station. More than likely they will be guarding convoys.    Please, please pray for their safety and the safety of all those serving in hostile areas.

Wow, you must be feeling, well, like all those emoticons. I'm hoping the media reports of drawdowns in 2007 are based on fact...
...and, of course, your dear son is in my prayers, along with all my deployed friends (and friends' children). Hang in there. PM me if you need a shoulder to cry on, too...I sent my dh to the Gulf in 1990/91, so I really do know what it's like.

Well I sort of have an update -
They won't tell them who won until January 5!  They are going to have a big ceremony after everyone comes back from block leave.
He said there were a few things he didn't know and a couple he couldn't articulate the way he wanted but his uniform was much neater than the others. There was NO indication from anyone about how any of the soldiers did.
Be all you can be - the Army motto for new recruits.
Hurry up and wait - the Army motto for all veterans.
They have left Kansas headed here, so if you have a moment will you please say a prayer for safe travels.

Well, darn it!  They postponed the decision until the 31st. I think they are just too busy getting ready for the deployment.
John left yesterday for Alabama to go to RAVEN school. He will be there until the 19th and we are praying that he will be allowed to take a pass the following weekend to come visit.
His trip to PA and VA went very well and He and Nikki did get to visit my parents for a couple of days. 
As of now the deployment date is still February 8th. All prayers are gratefully accepted.
