One for my brother-in-law Mitch who is recieving a new heart today. He's been waiting since August (which is actually not as long as the typical wait). Of course this is a very big deal and we are all praying for a successful outcome. His wife Sharon is my dh's sister. Pray for her too as she has a lot of fear.
Also, my dh had to take his Dad (William) to the hospital today. He's 82. He's been having a hard time breathing and getting around (he lives alone) and my dh had to force him to go to the ER this morning. Of course they admitted him right away as his hemoglobin is at 5.4 (they think he is bleeding through his colon) and his breathing is bad (he has congestive heart failure - which we knew already). At this point they are preparing to give him a blood transfusion and do more tests. I just spoke to Fr. bernard and he is on his way to see him now.
Prayers all around would be appreciated.

Update:
Mitch came through surgery well and is being kept in a drug induced coma for a while - apparently having something to do with them not being able to give him Hepron (he's allergic to it). So far so good - but he has a long road ahead of him.
Dad (William) received a blood transfusion last night. He is not bleeding through his colon as originally thought and as of last night his doctor told us that he is now beginning to suspect that he may have Leukemia. They are running further tests but won't know anything conclusive until next week. We have a lot of things to figure out as we are all in agreement that Dad can no longer live alone. Although my dh has 6 brothers and sisters all the handling of this is falling to him because some are too far away to help, some have other things going on (his sister Sharon being in Phila. with her husband Mitch of course) and others don't care.
Add to that dh is also trying to be a support and help to his wayward brother who was released from prison again a few weeks ago. He is bearing with it all well and working hard to not allow me to feel burdened or stressed by it but I can't help but feel sad that he has to handle so much alone when really his siblings should be helping. To be fair his sister in Georgia is planning to come up here next weekend but she can't get away until then.
