The fires are raging in southern California. My friend (who lives about an hour outside San Diego) emailed me tonight. The fire was only 5 miles from her home. At the time she wrote, only 5% of the fire was contained and it had already burned 27,000 acres (this is over 39 square miles!) They are ready to leave if the word comes. Already 4 fire fighters and some civilians have died. 1 firefighter remains in critical condition with burns over 90% of his body. Please pray for everyone involved.

Is anyone here at 4real in imminent danger?

Genevieve, we're in no danger here as far as I know--the first are at least an hour's drive away, I believe. But it's awful about those firefighters who died, and even worse to think they believe the fire began as arson.

Praying for all those affected by this fire. The four men who gave their lives trying to get the fire under control & the firefighter in the hospital with burns over 90% of his body. The fire crews out there now who from reports are gaining control over it.

Looking at the homes burned down to just the foundation is so sad.

Praying that the investigators will see the fruit from all their work and be able to apprehend the person responsible for the destruction.

Thank you for the prayers.

Some fires rage out of control here in Southern California because of the Santa Ana winds that blow in from the deserts, typically in the Fall. The latest fire is in the Riverside County area about 2 hours north of San Diego. We had devasting fires here (3 burning at once) three years ago. Thousands of homes lost and several lives. Very sad.

The loss of the firefighters is especially hard as my dad was a firefighter for 35 years and firefighters, like others in similar occupations, see each other as family.

The weather has changed which should greatly help bring this fire under control.

Lissa and I are safe.
