Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks for prayers to all of you and please continue to remember my in-laws in your prayers from time to time. We seem to now have a diagnosis (though it cannot be totally confirmed while a person is still living ). At least we understand why the docs were ordering all those tests - kept trying to rule out curable diseases first. It looks like my fil has Lewey Body disease - I'm not sure about the spelling. The diagnosis does not sound very encouraging - it is a progressive disease with no known means of stopping it's progression.    We found some information on NIH but if anyone has any ohter information, please PM us.

This is probably my fil worst nightmare come true. My dh will be speaking with his mom, while he is there, to try and come up with some what to do if and when type plans. Please pray that all can come up with good solutions.   Oh, how we wish we lived near them or that they would want to move here - but his docs are much better there. At this point we just don't know. I am so grateful for the week they spent with us before this happened - it was so relaxing and my fil told us so many stories about his growing up and war days. He probably talked more in that week than in his whole life!

Again, thanks for your continued prayers - this looks like it will be a long process, with progressive worsening of symptoms.

Janet

Please, pray for my fil again - I posted a while ago and he has been having problems ever since he visited us. Things just have not been improving - we are beginning to suspect that he is dying. My mil just had bil call to have us call when my dh and I are both together (not a good sign) and they have taken him back to the doc. My fil is so weak and seems as if some of his greatest fears are coming to be. He is such a good man, a decorated WWII veteran and has always been so brilliant. It is harder knowing he has never been baptized - but I know God is merciful and all. Please just pray that he rests in the arms of God before he dies and that he is peaceful at the last. Also, for my dh family who will not have the support of faith to handle their grief. The hardest part has been that he has been aware enough sometimes to know that his mind is not processing things right all the time (flashbacks) and when he doesn't feel right, he just cannot communicate well enough to say exactly what it is. He is a brilliant man and this has been very, very difficult on him. My mil is a real jewel and has been the best of caregivers, cheerful in all things. We feel so far away. Thank you so much.

Thank you everyone for your prayers - and please keep them coming. It is hard for us to know sometimes if the doctors are ordering more tests just to do something or if they really have a new lead. My dh will be going to be with his father Sat. (and hopefully get his mother to rest - this may go on for a long time and she needs to begin to pace herself) while I take the rest of the family to visit our oldest in college. My fil is not showing any signs of improvement at this point, the doctor has ordered a whole new battery of tests (most of which we haven't a clue what they are about) and referred my fil onto another specialist. This has been ongoing for almost 6 months now - and we need to know where things really stand because my mil needs to know how to pace herself. The pattern seems a whole lot like my grandmother who died of hardening of the arteries. Again, thanks for your continued prayer. I'll keep people updated as we know more.

Janet
